UPDATE: THE CUTOFF FOR DEAD PEOPLE MONTAGE AT THE OSCARS WAS JAN. 31ST. CATCH YA NEXT YEAR, SCHEIDER. This does not mean I miss him any less.

I'm pretty sure Roy Schieder was left out because he died too late - he'll be in next year's batch. As for Brad Renfro, the Academy has a history of ignoring younger actors - Jonathan Brandis didn't get a spot either. I'd be interested to know the 'criteria' one needs to get a spot on the memorials - is it an appearance in an Academy Award nominated film? In Heath's bit they showed him only from Brokeback Mountain, instead of the two or three film montage the others got (The Patriot was nominated, but nothing from there).
